A Multi-Tenant Ecommerce Platform Powering $100M+ in Annual Merchant Sales
The Problem
Small and mid-sized product sellers were stuck between two bad options: DIY builders like Shopify that require stitching together dozens of paid add-ons (payments, tax, shipping, marketing), or expensive custom builds they couldn't afford to maintain. B2B and MLM sellers had it even worse — mainstream platforms simply don't support their pricing models, commission structures, and ordering workflows.
The goal: a fully done-for-you ecommerce platform where a merchant adds products, builds their site, and starts selling — with payments, tax, and shipping working out of the box. No plugins, no add-on fees, no code.
What I Built
A complete multi-tenant ecommerce SaaS — effectively a Shopify alternative — covering the entire selling lifecycle:
- ▸Product Information Management (PIM): inventory with deep product options/variants, bulk upload for catalogs from 100 to 10,000+ products, with export to Shopify, WooCommerce, and Magento.
- ▸Drag-and-drop website + page builder: merchants design their own storefronts and landing pages with no theme restrictions.
- ▸Full shopping cart and checkout engineered for conversion, running 24/7 across all merchant sites.
- ▸Payments layer supporting dozens of gateways — Stripe, Authorize.net, NMI, Nexio, DirectScale, and more — so each merchant picks their own processor.
- ▸Tax software integrations for automated sales tax calculation.
- ▸Shipping integrations with FedEx, UPS, and others for live rates and fulfillment.
- ▸Mobile app: every merchant storefront converts to a mobile app at no extra cost.
- ▸Courses/LMS module (custom build): fitness companies sell video courses on their stores — with per-video watch-percentage tracking and a coach dashboard showing each client’s transformation progress.
- ▸B2C, B2B, and MLM channel support with channel-specific pricing tiers and workflows.
Results
- ▸Merchants on the platform collectively generated over $100 million in sales in a single year.
- ▸Top merchants individually reached $10–20M in monthly sales through storefronts running on the platform.
- ▸Merchants launch complete stores — site, payments, tax, shipping — without writing any code or buying any add-on, replacing a stack of 5–10 separate tools with one subscription.
- ▸Platform runs in production today serving live merchants, years after launch.
